Hi Lise. It wasn't Jews who collaborated with the Nazi regime in 1933; many Jews, in fact, denounced this Agreement. It was Zionist leaders who collaborated with the Nazis to serve their own end of creating a state in Palestine. The Agreement benefited Germany economically--in effect, these Zionists broke the economic boycott against Germany. The Haavara Agreement broke the anti-Nazi boycott of 1933, which was a global boycott of German goods initiated by Jewish organizations. This boycott had mass support among European and American Jews and was seen by the German state as a potential threat to the German economy. The boycott was a response to the Nazi Party's policies and actions against Jews, including the nationwide boycott of Jewish-owned businesses in Germany.
