Jewish emigration from Morocco was on a small scale before 1945. Moroccan Jews did so for better political, social and economic conditions, particularly after 1912 when Morocco came under colonial rule (although the Islamic administration continued to function.)

It was the Zionist movement that fomented the large-scale emigration to Israel. Read: Haaretz
